2013 Agricultural Day
April 2, 2013 was this year's Ag Day on the Hill at the State House in Boston, MA. Once again our raw bar had a line stretching almost the length of the great hall of flags, and our state's Representatives and Senators joined the line to satisfy their hunger for the salty treat. Gail Hart joined us in the day and contributed by informing the public how ARC works. She went above and beyond by bringing clam seed and oyster spat, displaying 50,000 oysters in a small bottle, a sight that impressed the curious crowd. John Lowell generously donated his time and oyster product representing East Dennis oysters. He also got the chance to be interviewed on a local television channel where he explained how important the aquaculture industry is to Massachusetts communities. Bob Wallace, president of the MAA, also donated his time and clam and oyster product representing Wellfleet. Along with Bob, Brad Kaplan contributed in donating product from Wellfleet. And our administrator Alexandra helped to facilitate the line by handing out the product at the raw bar. Stephen Wright could not attend the event but did donate oyster product representing Chatham oysters. The day was a success and the aquaculture industry was well represented. A big thanks to all growers who donated their time and their exceptional product.
